Our Story
At Red Cliffs Ranch, we believe river valleys are the most efficient landscapes for growing food. By utilizing sustainable farming practices—including rotational grazing, composting, and manual weeding—we have improved our soil without the use of outside fertilizers or amendments.
While modern agriculture often prioritizes size and appearance over nutrition, we focus on the soil. Most produce today is grown in depleted earth, but we enrich our land naturally through the presence of livestock. This "soil-first" approach ensures that every crop is packed with the vitamins and minerals often missing from store-bought food.
Our commitment to quality means our products are:
-
No Chemicals: We do not chemically fertilize or spray the grass for weeds, Sheeps only eat fresh grass and weeds.
-
No Wormers, No Steroids, No Antibiotics, No Growth Hormones and no medications whatsoever.
-
Grass-Fed: Our animals thrive on nutrient-dense, native greenery, resulting in meat with superior flavor and health benefits.
-
Pasture-Raised: Our livestock are free to roam, living in harmony with the land and following their innate instincts to find the best forage.
By growing healthy soil, we provide truly humane, nutritious, and sustainable food directly from our ranch to your table.

Our Vision
We are building our Farm Stand from the ground up as a hub for the Durango community. We envision a future filled with on-site farm dinners, weddings, and tours, where our raw vegetables are transformed into delicious, value-added creations.
As key players in the local food scene, we manage some of the largest vegetable acreage in La Plata County. We are dedicated to feeding our community quality produce and nutritious hay by building healthy soil through rotational grazing.
Current highlights and future goals include:
-
Partnerships: To supplement what we cannot grow in our climate, we are exploring partnerships with fruit farmers in Arizona and California to stock our farm stand.
-
Commitment: While our primary focus remains the health of our soil, animals, and valley, we are passionate about sharing our knowledge through farm visits, local markets, and social media.
By focusing on the land first, we ensure a sustainable future for our ranch and our community.
